Seems to be well made, nice little portable heater. At first Mr. Heater F232000 MH9BX Buddy takes a while to get the gas in to the piolet light, you have hold it down for about 30 seconds or so. This is an excellent portable heater we live in the Northeast and lose power often with snow storms (and the recent Hurricane Sandy!) although we have a generator that runs on gasoline.

It is simply not safe to "stock up" on gasoline, storing it is dangerous. So, no gas, no heat. Since 1lb propane cylinders are safe to stock up on and store, we decided to give this heater a try. We tested it out in our 29 ft Airstream camper and it heated the camper up nicely and quickly. It puts out a fair amount of heat on high setting for its size.

I'm amazed to say the sides & bottom remained cool to the touch ("cool" as in room temp) after a full hour of use. The Mr. Heater F232000 MH9BX Buddy Heater is well made, enamel and should not give me any rust problems. It is light in weight, about 2.5 lbs, and has a low oxygen alarm and will turn off if the stove turns over. I hook it up to a propane gas hose with a leak detector on the propane tank.

It didn't heat a glass of cold water touching its side. Indeed, the LP can on the other side got cold enough to attract condensate! No gas smell during use. During the week I don't bother heating my whole condo, just the master bedroom, but it gets chilly in the kitchen when I'm making a quick meal or my lunch for work. This little heater though is very quick. Moments after I start the heater it's noticeably warmer.

At 9,000 BTU each 16.4 propane canister will only last about 4 hours so bring a lot of them or a bigger tank and converter. Another plus is that the safety cage is wrapped in thick rubber, so it doesn't burn you when you bump it by accident.

My pleasure to highly recommend this Mr. Heater F232000 MH9BX Buddy  product for an emergency heat source! You will get some mild fumes from propane but not real bad.
